The class sizes are limited to only 20 students, so you’ll receive personal attention and guidance from the team of friendly, experienced, international teachers and plenty of support both before, during and after the training.
All Yoga’s Bali courses take place on the stunning, laid-back island of Nusa Lembongan, just a 30-minute boat ride from Bali. The Thailand courses take place on a secluded beach on the magical, tropical island of Koh Phangan. Both locations offer yoga studios (shalas) with stunning ocean views so you just have to pick your paradise!
I’ve been lucky enough to visit both islands – they are both beautiful with a special, spiritual energy and the ideal places for a yoga course.
As I did my YTT in Bali this review will focus on the Bali program. So, what can you expect to learn, what are the teachers like, what is the accommodation and food like? Let’s find out.
Daily Schedule, Curriculum and Certification
All Yoga’s curriculum is super comprehensive and covers everything you need to become a well-rounded yoga teacher. From twice daily yoga classes (physical asana practice) to lessons on anatomy and yoga philosophy, there’s so much packed into the training, both on and off the mat.
Mornings start with kriyas (cleansing practices) pranayama, and meditation sessions, which are all essential components of a traditional yoga practice. This is followed by a 90-minute led Ashtanga primary series yoga class in the beautiful beachfront shala and a break for breakfast and a dip in the sea.
The afternoons are filled with engaging and interesting theory classes and teaching practice. Lectures cover topics such as the history and philosophy of yoga, human anatomy and physiology, teaching methodology, class sequencing, adjustments, the business of yoga, and much more.
After this is teaching practice, asana clinic and the final yoga class of the day is held at sunset. Evenings are free to explore the island, study and rest.
While the course focuses on Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga you’ll also get to try different styles with the fun workshops on Rocket, Power, Yin, Restorative, and AcroYoga.
On Day 10 you start practicing Mysore-style Ashtanga (self-led) which allows you to further develop your personal practice under the guidance of the teachers.
By the end of the course, you will integrate all you have learned and show that you can confidently and safely teach both traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa and modern creative Vinyasa Flow classes.
To join the training, it’s recommended to have at least 6 months of regular and consistent dynamic Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga practice, or medium to high-intensity sports or fitness training.
Upon completion of the training, you will receive a 200-hour yoga teacher certification from All Yoga, which is recognized by the Yoga Alliance. This certification is highly regarded in the yoga industry and will allow you to teach yoga internationally and be eligible for insurance as a yoga teacher.
The Yoga Alliance is an internationally recognized accreditation body for yoga teachers and yoga schools, so you can feel confident that your certification holds credibility and value worldwide.
Teachers and Fellow Trainees
What truly sets All Yoga’s training apart is the incredible team of international instructors who bring their vast knowledge, passion, and fun-loving spirit to the training. David from Spain, Seline from Switzerland, and Kholis from Indonesia are all highly experienced and skilled teachers who are deeply dedicated to yoga.
Each instructor has a specialism and a unique teaching style and experts from India come over to teach philosophy. Together they create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that makes it easy to absorb all the physical practice, theory and teaching concepts.
On my training, the internationally diverse group of students quickly created a close-knit and supportive community. At the start about 50% of the group’s goal was to teach yoga, while the other 50% simply wanted to deepen their personal practice. By the end of the training, most of the group felt inspired and confident to teach which is testimony to All Yoga’s comprehensive program and teaching practice sessions.
The support staff at All Yoga is equally exceptional and will make sure that you feel prepared, welcomed, and supported in your yoga teacher training journey from initial contact, throughout the training and afterward as you make your way into the world as a newly qualified yoga teacher.
Location, Accommodation and Food
All Yoga’s Bali courses are held in a semi-open-air beachfront yoga shala on the island of Nusa Lembongan, just a 30 minute boat ride from the main island of Bali.
Bali is known as the “Island of the Gods” and is a popular yoga destination due to its beautiful natural scenery and strong spiritual energy.
The Nusa Lembongan location offers a peaceful escape from the busy, tourist areas of Bali, and is the perfect environment for an immersive and transformative yoga teacher training experience.
After class you can run straight into the sea to cool down, and there’s plenty to explore on days off. Whether you want to go snorkeling, scuba diving and island hopping to Nusa Penida, or just want to relax on the beaches and enjoy a Balinese massage, I’m sure you will fall in love with this island as much as I did.
All Yoga offer complimentary shared accommodation for the first 10 sign-ups at Nyuh Gading Homestay, a lovely family-run guesthouse by the beach. But don’t worry if you don’t apply early enough, or prefer a private room, there are many more accommodation options available nearby. With a choice of budget-friendly hostels, homestays, and guesthouses to luxurious, beachfront resorts and villas, you will easily find a place to stay that fits your preferences and budget.
For me, the only downside to this training was that meals weren’t included. But there were plenty of delicious and healthy food options, including vegetarian and vegan, to explore nearby. So, while we ate really well, it was the biggest extra expense during our training.
From local warungs (small restaurants) serving inexpensive traditional Balinese dishes to beachfront cafes and trendy restaurants with international cuisine, you won’t go hungry. The prices of food are very affordable (costing on average $5 per meal) so you’ll have no problem finding nourishing meals that fuel your body and mind during the training, but I would have preferred to have this taken care of and have meals as a group.
I preferred to have my own private room instead of staying in the dorm, so I stayed at the nearby Dwiki Putra Homestay which was clean, comfortable and just steps from the yoga shala and beach. My favorite brunch spot was Ginger and Jamu where I could relax after a swim with a fresh coconut and smoothie bowl on the beach.
I spent about $250 on food during the 23 days so remember to budget for this, plus any activities like snorkeling or island hopping that you want to do. And make time after your training to explore more of Bali too – especially Ubud.
Costs and Ways to Save Money
Yoga teacher training is not just an investment in a career, but also an investment in yourself. It takes time and money and can be physically, emotionally, and spiritually challenging, but it offers immense value in return.
Not only do you receive professional training across all aspects of yoga and a certification to teach, you will also experience profound personal growth in a supportive environment of like minded people. Plus, you get to immerse yourself in the beautiful landscapes and culture of Bali for almost a month!
The cost of this comprehensive program with All Yoga teacher training in Bali is USD $3,950 and there are several discounts available. And don’t worry, when you sign up you only need to pay a deposit, not the whole fee at once.
3 ways to save money on All Yoga YTT:
- Sign up at least 3 months in advance to save $800
- Be one of the first 10 to sign up and you will receive free accommodation.
- Get a further $150 discount by quoting ‘LoveYogaLoveTravel’ when you enquire.
The course fee includes 23 days of twice daily yoga classes, workshops, lectures, teaching practice and assessments by experienced and passionate trainers.
While there are cheaper YTT options available in places like India, I felt the price accurately reflects the quality of the program, the teachers, the expertise that comes from running yoga training for over a decade, the stunning beachfront location and the overall experience.
If you prefer a private room there are plenty of options on Booking.com from about $10 per night. And don’t forget to budget for food which is not included in the course fee. Allow at least $250 for meals.
Don’t forget to budget for your flights to Bali (check Skyscanner to find the best deals) You’ll need $35 for your visa on arrival and about $33 for the return boat transfers.
My Experience at All Yoga Training in Bali
I know it’s a cliché but my experience of yoga teacher training in Bali was life-changing in many ways. The program was challenging and enlightening, I found myself growing physically, mentally, and spiritually and learned so much not just about yoga, but about myself too.
If a dynamic Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga training is what you are looking for All Yoga is certainly among the best options available. Over 10 years of experience means they have really refined the art of training yoga teachers.
Another highlight for me was the absolutely stunning location and the non-dogmatic approach. The island of Nusa Lembongan (and the whole of Bali) has such a special spiritual energy which makes it an ideal place for yoga and meditation.
Their other location in Koh Phangan, Thailand also has a magical, spiritual energy. It’s hard to think of more idyllic destinations. Whichever tropical paradise island location you choose, All Yoga’s time-tested methodology, well-organized program, and amazing trainers will help you find your unique way of teaching yoga.
Whether you want to change your career and teach, or if you just want to take some time out to be immersed in learning all about yoga and yourself, it’s definitely a worthwhile investment and you’ll likely learn much more than you expected.
