Tips For Planning Your Vietnam Yoga Retreat

Now that you’ve seen the best yoga retreats in Vietnam (and hopefully chosen one) let’s talk briefly about how to prepare for your upcoming retreat and trip to Vietnam.

When To Go

The best time to visit Vietnam depends on the region you’re going to because the country’s climate varies significantly from north to south.

If you’re doing a yoga retreat in Northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, etc), I recommend booking your retreat between October to April. This is because May to September is usually very hot, humid, and prone to heavy rains.

If your Vietnamese yoga retreat is in Central Vietnam (Hoi An, Da Nang, Hue), the best time to go is between February and August. March to May is especially pleasant, as it’s not too hot. However, if you love the heat and want to enjoy yoga classes on the beach, June to August might be best for you.

Lastly, for Southern Vietnam, plan your trip between November and April to enjoy the sunny days and comfortable dry season temperatures.

Doing a Vietnamese yoga retreat during the rainy season is possible. However, I only recommend it if you plan to spend your days relaxing at the resort rather than going out and about.

Most yoga studios and retreat centers will have covered yoga shalas. Plus, the sound of rainfall can be incredibly peaceful and feel like natural sound healing!

That being said, Vietnam is prone to flooding, so visiting during periods of heavy rain may affect your travel plans.

Traveling To Vietnam

Most tourists visiting Vietnam fly into one of the country’s three main airports: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Da Nang International Airport.

Hanoi is the best airport for north Vietnam, while Ho Chi Minh City is ideal for exploring south Vietnam. Flying into Da Nang International Airport makes sense if your yoga retreat is somewhere in central Veitnam like Da Nang, Hoi An, or Hue.

Another option for Hue is the smaller Phu Bai Airport, which serves both domestic and some international flights.

If your retreat is in Da Lat, your closest option is Cam Ranh Airport. Meanwhile, if you’re heading to Phu Quoc, you can fly directly to the island.

Many yoga retreats in Vietnam offer airport transfers. This makes navigating your way from the airport to the retreat center effortless and stress-free.

Many nationalities now enjoy visa exempt entry to Vietnam, but check the latest requirements for your passport before traveling.
